Stream Xfinity services from anywhere
Enjoy Xfinity Streaming While You Travel

And the good news for cord-cutters just keeps on coming! In addition to offering their popular TV Everywhere service (which lets you watch your favorite shows whenever you’d like, provided you have a subscription to Xfinity TV) and Streampix (which offers popular movies and TV shows), Comcast will now offer their own version of a limited, cheap cable package for those who want to avoid the high cost of cable.

Stream by Xfinity

This new service, available only to users of Xfinity Internet for your cord-cutters and cord-nevers. It is called Stream by Xfinity.

For $15 a month, users will get access to shows from standard cable channels like NBC, ABC, Fox, CBS, the CW, Univision, and Telemundo, as well as a selection from everyone’s favorite premium channel, HBO. Better still, Comcast is sweetening the deal by tossing in TV Everywhere and Streampix, as well as a Cloud DVR service that allows you to record up to 20 hours of programming.

At the moment, Comcast is only getting this service up and running, so it will only be available in certain cities for Xfinity streaming internet users until early 2016. But again, the tide is dramatically turning in favor of cord-cutters.

How To Use Xfinity Streaming While You Travel

As many of you are surely aware, Xfinity’s streaming services are not available just anywhere. If you’re traveling around the world outside the USA on business or for pleasure, you may be disappointed to find that you no longer have access to your favorite TV shows and movies without Xfinity streaming.

Of course, there’s an easy way around that issue. They’re called VPNs and they’re everything an Xfinity internet user needs to stay connected to their favorite streaming movies and TV.

The primary purpose of a VPN service, or Virtual Private Network service, is to secure your online data. When you log into a VPN, all of your activity is tunneled through encrypted servers set up all over the world, thus protecting all of your sensitive info (e-mails, credit card numbers, etc.) from the eyes of hackers, identity thieves, snooping governments, and so forth. In this day and age, VPNs couldn’t be a more vital necessity.

The secondary purpose (though the one that particularly applies here) is to allow you to access geographically restricted websites. When you log into your VPN, you’re allowed to pick the country that houses your encrypted server. When you pick your server, you’re given an IP address in that country, making your internet-capable device think it’s in that very country.

So if you’re in, say, China, and you want to access Streampix, all you have to do is log in to your VPN, pick a US-based server, and voila! You’re using Xfinity streaming in moments!

We’re affiliated with a great deal of top-notch VPN service providers (just check out our official supported VPN provider list if you don’t believe us), so getting started looking for the right one can be intimidating. With that in mind, we recommend taking a look at some of the most popular VPN service providers for using Comcast Xfinity while traveling.

Enjoy Xfinity Streaming with a VPN Ready FlashRouter

While you’re upgrading your online security with a VPN, you may want to do yourself a favor and get a FlashRouter.

After all, our devices are incredibly VPN-friendly. You can hold onto your old router for use as a local router, and use your new FlashRouter as a dedicated VPN router, making switching between your two networks a breeze. It’s called the dual router setup, and it makes life a great deal easier.

What’s more, if you’re subscribed to any VPN on our official supported VPN provider list, we can send your FlashRouter with your VPN subscription already installed, saving you a lot of hassle.

But really, as the video above explains, a FlashRouter’s greatest asset is that it simply revitalizes your wireless network. By flashing our devices with replacement firmware like DD-WRT, we give our users access to a whole slew of features that just aren’t available on your average routers. Enjoy advanced security options, an extendable wireless range, control how your bandwidth is allocated, and so much more with a FlashRouter on your side.
