The gaming console wars are heating up as people desperately try to find new consoles. Late in 2020, Microsoft launched its new Xbox Series X and Series X consoles, succeeding the previous Xbox One model. At the same time, Sony released the PlayStation 5. As Covid related chip shortages have grown, consoles have become in short supply. But if you manage to get your hands on one, how can you get the most out of it when gaming online?

What Are the Differences Between Xbox Series X and Series S?

The Xbox Series X console is Microsoft’s ultra-high-end console. The Series S console is a bit more limited, with much less graphical processing power and just half the storage as the Series X. Both models are much more advanced than the previous generation’s Xbox One model.

One major difference between the new models is that the Xbox Series S does not feature an optical drive at all, so all new content must be purchased and downloaded digitally. This also means that disk-based games from older generations, like the Xbox One, cannot be played on the Series S.

The Xbox Series X has an optical drive, and the system is backwards compatible all the way back to the original Xbox console. A more technical breakdown is available towards the end of this article.
